Isaac Tries for a Natrelmon [Forest]

Isaac strolled out of the Pinehearst shop, a faintly concerned smile on his face. He'd just purchased two D Relics, which he was rather happy about, as they represented the chance to capture, study, and make accurate illustrations of one or two new Natrelmon. They had cost 2,000 N total, however, which he was less pleased about. It oughtn't be allowed, he thought to himself. They had a blasted monopoly on trainer items, and that was the truth. It oughtn't be allowed. Still, surely they were putting the money to a good cause. Surely...

He shook his head. Money had always bothered him. He'd never liked it. Money was always so hard to come by, and then you felt bad for letting it go. You started to covet it more than the thing you're getting the money for in the first place. Quite frankly, he'd rather not have to worry about it at all, but it was a necessary evil. You couldn't do anything without money, it seemed. Couldn't eat, couldn't drink, couldn't go where you wanted, couldn't even sleep indoors... Art was the only free thing in the world, and even that needed money if you wanted to do it right.

"Come on, Petal," he said. "Let's go get you a friend." The Sakura contrived to look excited. They went off to the forest, with a relic in one hand and a song in their hearts. And their heads in the clouds. Soon, they were bushwhacking their way through the undergrowth and overgrowth. Bushes. Weaving around trees, falling into streams, etc. Several times Isaac stopped, overtaken by the beauty around him, and took a sketch of the area. They could have passed by dozens of Natrelmon and not even noticed...

As Isaac was searching for a Natrelmon in whatever manner he was, he came across a small little Bruse, obviously very very young. It's immediate reaction to being found was to stare at Isaac like a deer in the headlights.

These were not the hardest captures in the world.

"MOO!"

A Natrelmon, in the form of a young, grazing cow, had stumbled into Isaac's sight, rather distracted by the mass amount of foiliage in the ground, rather enamored by the food supply, especially at the young, growing age it was.

It also liked to moo.

"MOO."

Isaac froze for a moment, looking equally unnerved as the very bull he had found. He glanced at Petal, on his shoulder. She seemed more at ease, and was making faint cooing noises, as if trying to calm either him, the Bruse, or both. Isaac slowly took a card from his pocket, holding it in a shaking left hand, trying to calm himself.

"C-c-come on, little Brussse..." His voice was barely a whisper, but he raised the relic toward the bull. Petal realized what he was doing and promptly focused, sharpening the grass the Bruse was trying to eat, resulting in the bull trying to swallow razor blades as the relic attempted to capture it.

Hopefully this was a practically guaranteed win.

And hence, the baby bull moo machine was caught in the first relic that was attempted by Isaac. The satisfaction of catching this Bruse would soon be distracted by another, larger rustling, a familiar human figure breaking out into the open: the trainer that Isaac had fought before in the tournament looked rather sweaty, his jeans completely dirty from having been in the forest for the duration of the night.

"That... is... the... last... time... I... go... off... the... path..." Luke mutterred to himself, looking down and finally seeing that he was back on the trail, a small yellow Datic at his right side. "I thought you would know the way!" Luke looked down at the dog. "Why did you lead me through that river! And through that pond! And out the other edge of the forest!"

Even at this, the Datic seemed to be laughing, rather amused at the antics that Luke had to go through to get through the night. Seriously, humans had no backbone.

"Well, at any rate, at least I'm out of there..." Luke mutterred to himself, not yet noticing Isaac as he straightenned out his spine, streching proper, having had the threat of bushes throwing off of his balance for the longest time. Hence, though he was standing most of the time, he couldn't really stand in proper until now... but, even now, he was keeping his eyes open for other Natrelmon.

For Isaac, this was probably something exceedingly random and coincidental, but it at least made some sort of sense. Luke was good at battling, but not so much at travelling alone in the wild where humans didn't belong. Huge dark 'bags' were under his eyes, suggesting little to know sleep for the past several hours, which was again, not surprising.

He seemed to be about to randomly turn in Isaac's direction when he noticed the noise of a rustle in a bush... curious, he turned over in that direction, to see if it would be anything of note, or just the wind. After all, it was a rather faint noise, and Luke may actually be somewhat hallucinating due to the lack of sleep. But, yet again, it could be... something.

"Hey, it's that trainer from before," said Isaac to Petal, not yet sliding the card to his pocket. Petal looked as though she were scowling, if it were possible for a small pink flower to scowl. Suffice to say she wasn't pleased to see Luke. He had been her first real loss, her first battle ending with some confusing results. The master of the metal arachnid... Isaac didn't pick up on this malice, however, or if he did he tactfully ignored it. He had no interest in making enemies with Luke, or any other trainer... or anyone, really. He didn't like having enemies. Enemies were more likely to object to you featuring them in illustrations.

"Fancy meeting you out here," said the artist-slash-trainer cheerfully. He apparently had no hard feelings about Luke's unfriendly attitude the day before. "That's an interesting Natrelmon... Dalick, isn't it? Ice, judging by it's color? Then again, ice would be rare this time of year... Fire or electric, maybe? Or water? Hah, I'm no good at this, my guesses are all over the place! I've never been all that good at this deductive reasoning stuff. Well, most of the time. When I'm trying, anyway. Some things are just... obvious. I'm not so lucky now, though! Is it new? It looks as though you had a hard time with it,"

His bright, easy-going tone was disarming, enough to put someone at ease about meeting a trainer who might have reason to have a grudge alone in the middle of the woods. It would also either scare away or attract any wild Natrelmon in the area. This was a strangely effective strategy, if a rather blunt one, and had the added bonus or hindrance of Isaac having no idea about it. Any Natrelmon he attracted would be from a complete coincidence... although it could look as though he'd planned it all along, the cunning devil that he was.

Ironically enough, an earthen lizard came from behind Isaac, attracted by the earthy scent of his pastels and pencil lead... Luke merely referred to it with a point. "I, uh, think you might want to deal with that thing..." Luke suggested, not wanting to start conversation before being promptly interrupted.

Or maybe Cold was just lazy.

Isaac turned around slowly, a look of distinct existential dread passing over his face. He stared at the approaching behemoth of the lizard for a moment, eyes widening. Then, a wide grin passed over his face. He pulled his briefcase up, flipping one clasp open.

"Petal, go get him!" he exclaimed as the Sakura leaped from his shoulder. She was acting more aggressive than usual, possibly wanted to show off to the great evil that was the Spider Master. She was being prevented from attacking Luke directly, and in any case was a tad intimidated by him, but that great big lizard was fair game! Let it feel the wrath of small pink flowers everywhere!

Isaac backed up a bit, drawing the additional relic card from the halfway-open briefcase, watching the battle intently in case a feeble wall would be needed.

"What are the odds of this, eh? Two Natrelmon right after each other! I can tell this is going to be a good day for me," he said, not looking directly at Luke.

Not necessarily intimidated by the small pink flower, the Grianos turned its lizard body ninety degrees and slammed its tail down towards the Sakura's current position, still trying to go forward for those tasty pastels...

"Well, if you catch it, it will be," Luke simply replied, staying back and observing the fray.

Petal dodged to the side, easily avoiding the massive tail. That wasn't the only thing it did, however. As the tail smashed down on green carpet of grass that covered the forest floor, it would find it had just slammed it's tail down onto hundreds of small grass-element razorblades, which it was weak to.

"I'm confident Petal can take it. Man, she's frisky today. I don't know what's gotten into her..." Isaac flashed Luke a lopsided grin before looking back to the battle. He drew a pencil from his pocket - one of the ones that had attracted the lizard - and began to do a sketch of the beast, trying to catch it in some pose of powerful animal vitality...

The Grianos screamed in relative pain to the grass blades, rather angrily and blindly running straight at the Sakura, headfirst with an attempt to simply bite it in half.

Another good attack and a relic attempt would be wise.

Petal nimbly moved backward, taunting the beast, goading it to continue. With each step the Grianos brought its foot down on a large patch of razorblades, which it was still weak to. Given its low level, it would likely be ready for capture very shortly...

Isaac finished the sketch and looked it over, holding it up to the light. A light smile passed over his face. "There, that ought to... oh, wait..." He quickly corrected the jawline on the drawing, making it slightly thinner toward the back than he'd originally drawn it.

"There," he said, smiling. He glanced at the beast chasing Petal. "Ah, yes, I should probably do something about that... hm..." He sized it up, trying to judge how much longer it would be before it was ready for a relic. "I think... yes, now!" He used the D relic, targeting the much weakened Grianos.
