A Much Better Map:
- Spoiler:
The world of Atren is filled with various terrains, from the most tropical, to the most desolate. The variety allows for an abundance of various life on this continent. Mostly one complete island, it is surrounded by water on all sides, with a few smaller islands around it.
There are ten major cities in Atren. Each one is home to a Natrelmon Arena, where the Champion of that Area awaits challengers to earn their credentials. To the far southwest, Toran sits along the coast. The smallest of the ten cities, it is mostly a seaport, one of the few major ones scattered about Atren. Just to the northeast, near the mountain range that divides the central from the west, is the mining city of Ward. It lies just below the horizontal median, at the base of the mountain pass.
To the far Northwest, fairly isolated, is the port city of Armkfish. It is surrounded by dense forest and is considered a great city for natural life. It is named after the abundance of the creatures near it – Armkfish, which is quite strange. The Armkfish is often considered the weakest of all Natrelmon. However, the port city is far from that – very strong, despite its isolation.
To the most northern part of Atren lies the city of Relin, which is the oldest city. At the base of the mountains that divide the central from the west, but on the east side, it is often covered in snow. To its north is another port, but few people ever come by ship to it. The ice is often too much for them to handle.
To the far south, it becomes a stark contrast to the north. Just below the center horizontal, it turns to desert, going from the western mountains, to the bright southern desert in an instant. Within that desert is a city, which has a thriving industry despite its location. Hard to traverse, many people use flying Natrelmon to cross when the weather is permitting, or use one of the long underground tunnels they have built.
Strangely, it has an abundant supply of metals near the city, which is how it is supported. The city goes by Ivlser.
On a small island to the Southeast of the mainland, is the 'floating' city of Atrew. What bits are not inhabited by people are filled with lush plant life, which reflects the mainland to the northwest of them, on the edge of the Southern Desert's east side. Just to the north of that patch, is the flatland city of Orin. It is nearly completely devoid of trees in large areas, but has many surrounding the city, to block the winds that often rack it. It is the eastern most city, if you exclude Atrew.
Just inwards from the northeast edge of the continent, is the forested city of Sakura. It is surrounded by cherry trees, which makes up nearly all of the forest around it. It is considered one of the most beautiful cities in existence. It is always filled with a full, sweet scent. During various seasons, the petals often fall in lazy spirals done on people. The city does little to clean them up, as many people enjoy walking through the falling petals.
To the west of it, there is the river that runs from the northern coast, down to the central mainland, where it forms a lake. From there, it flows to the west, falling off a cliff towards the desert, which is the only source of water for that area. At the top and bottom of the waterfall is one city, which is united by a system of elevators. Many trees are dotted in and around the city, but they are far less tropical and very hardy, as snow has been known to fall here. Echo is very close to the center of the mainland, just to the east of the Tritower.
At the base of the Tritower is the largest of all of the cities, Lifan. The city is the central point on the continent and has good routes to basically every other city. It is a very common environment with nothing to tropical, but nothing to 'northern'. The Tritower itself is so tall that mist swirls around its peak, preventing the sight of the very top.
It is old, very old, and many believe that it is a giant relic itself.
Other towns do exist, but they aren't nearly as large as these, nor do they contain any Arenas. Other notable feature of Atren is the chain of islands to the southwest, which are highly volcanic. Various streams run down from the mountains, from melting snow caps. Many small rivers flow into the central area, which disappear with the seasons. The ones that flow to the west are more stable, and provide a bit of crossing in order to get to Armkfish.
To the southwest of Atren rests a small island.
Although the island of Xuan is owned by Pinehearst, there is a small town that formed around the port that shares its names with the island. Most of the people in this town either work in the Pinehearst office there, as a fisher, or in one of the shops. While it may not sound like much to most, this island has quite a draw for trainers: many Natrelmon can only be found on this island.
Just past the city limits is a small area of grass plains. Just a little further into the island is a small wooded area. Unlike the rest of the island, the trees are not too packed here. Past the wavy river, which runs through the middle of the island, the woods give way to a thick jungle where most of the Natrelmon reside.
