PostSubject: Challenge: Tomiko vs Ward   Fri Apr 30, 2010 2:50 pm

Tomiko Kioku entered the Ward Gym, to challenge the leader before she returned to Lifan. After defeating the Ward Gym leader she planned to take the train back to Lifan and return to the forests. Currently Tomiko was prepared for a difficult battle, but didn't see it as impossible. Odds were that Ward was not terribly difficult, though it was likely to put up more of a challenge than Toran simply due to the power of earth types, at this time it didn't really seem like she was in much danger of losing, though you never knew.

As Tomiko walked down the inverted corridor, she would come across a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Upon moving through this light, she'd appear in the Ward Arena, of which was dotted with torches, sand pits, and water pools. The earthy passageway slammed shut behind her. It would not open until the battle was over.

"Ah! A trainer." Commented Ankio, leader of Ward Arena. "Unless you stumbled in here by accident, I assume you're here for a fight." He got up from the stone chair he was relaxing in, and stood behind the marble podium atop his platform.

As Ankio finished his sentence, a thick, white mist drifted from a stalagmite. It sank into one of the sand pits; and not five seconds later did the head of a large worm pop up from the hole.

"Let's get started, shall we?"

"I am indeed not here by mistake." Tomiko said, summoning Sparwire into the air above the arena. It did an aerial back-flip, to stretch its wings. Tomiko said, "I guess it's my place to begin as I've issued the challenge." She stepped back, distancing herself from the combat. She gave a simple set of orders to Sparwire, though to Aniko it wouldn't make any sense, as the commands were issued within a language Tomiko herself had created. Though she hadn't yet had time to teach it to any of her other Natrelmon, Sparwire knew it.

In reply, Sparwire began to rise into the air, it circled above the worm before launching a shock at the middle of Wune's body and tucking its wings to dive towards Wune.

"Down, Wune." The sand-worm simply retreated about three feet into the sand, deep enough so that the Shock would dissipate before reaching Wune. It then fired an Earth Shot at the last known position of the Sparwire, which was accurate because the Sparwire was diving. The sand and earth debris came from the very hole Wune was hiding in now, but left enough sand for an easy cover.

After firing the Earth Shot, Wune would weave itself through the labyrinth of tunnels and appear in the sand-pit ten feet behind the Sparwire. It would not know Wune had moved into Tomiko warned it.

As the Wune dived under the ground Sparwire banked right, waiting for Tomiko's command. Meanwhile it rode the thermals up towards the ceiling of the Gym, the earth shot missed it considerably. Tomiko had originally planned for Sparwire to attack a second time, but Sparwire certainly wasn't stupid and wouldn't care to dive bomb a hole in the ground. After Wune reappeared Tomiko issued Sparwire two orders, it again dived towards Wune, coming at a wide angle from far above.

A Stone Blade flew from the floor, sharpened and poised to damage. It was timed so that is Sparwire kept its flight pattern constant, it would be struck in the chest within the next five feet of distance. This would take a little more than four seconds, obviously enough time to dodge.

But on either side of the Stone Blade was an Earth Shot, coming from pits proportionate to the direction they were flying in. Meaning, the closest pit to the left of the Stone Blade fired the left shot, and the same for the right.

Wune ducked down three feet under the sand, but did not travel to another pit. Instead, it waited for Ankio's command to spring and attack.

Tomiko had expected it to make an attack then go into hiding, exactly like last time. Sparwire rolled to the side, then rolled again weaving in between the attacks utilizing its high agility, this was a very easy task. Sparwire then flew up to a high elevation again and began to circle awaiting Tomiko's orders. For now she gave none but simply observed the field of battle, keeping Sparwire at a distance would be the ideal defensive tactic as attacking an underground foe was impossible for a type like Sparwire.

The Wune poked its head from the sand in annoyance. It looked up in the air at the Sparwire and growled. The fight was not over yet. An Earth Shot from its own pit flew straight up in the air, trying to attract the attention of Sparwire.

Sparwire curved banking to the left away from the attack, Tomiko gave another coded order, after which Sparwire started to fly towards the other end of the maximum amount of distance between itself and the worm. If Wune wanted to attack Sparwire with any effect it would have to move closer, again Sparwire didn't attack but maintained and increased its distance preparing to draw Wune out, Tomiko hadn't had to give it many details, as Sparwire had hunting instincts which it would use against this sort of tactic.

"Well.. this battle is going no where fast. It seems that Wune can't hit Sparwire, and vise versa. Come on back, Wune." The worm groaned as it evaporated into the air, particles grouping around the stalagmite and disappearing.

At the same time, a shape formed in the middle of the battlefield. It was large, quad-pedaled, much like a tortoise. Kaiguard let out a roar that shook the cave as it emerged, stomping its foot once or twice to assert dominance.

It stared at the yellow canary with an intense look, waiting for the bird to make the first move.

Tomiko issued new orders to Sparwire, the technique changing as it dived closer to Kaigara, swooping lower until it was around four meters away from Kaigara, above, and a bit behind, circling so that it would soon be facing Kaiguard, it didn't attack yet instead waiting for the tortoise to make the first move. Sparwire did on the other hand give a cheerful call that at the same time seemed to be taunting the tortoise, hoping to elicit a response of some sort from it.

For her own part Tomiko stood back wanting to see what the trainer would do with this Natrelmon, what sort of tactic would be used.

Kaiguard strengthened its stone shell with the earthen materials, covering the fleshy, exposed parts of its body with ground, nullifying any electrical attack as Kaiguard turned around to face Sparwire. It launched an Aqua Shot at the bird, annoyed by the taunting calls.

It then prepared to defend itself with series of slabs or counter with Earth Shots.

The Aqua shot was launched exactly as Tomiko had expected, knowing that the gym leader would have, by now, realized that long ranged earth type attacks were as good as useless versus Sparwire. As the aqua shot was launched, Sparwire slowed just slightly so that it would pass by, though the attack came within centimeters of hitting it in the head, as it slowed it launched a shock directly into the incoming stream of water. This would cause the electricity to travel down the aqua shot and directly into Kaiguard's mouth. As soon as it had fired off the shock technique, Sparwire dropped slightly and accelerated to pass under the aqua shot without harm. The timing was perfect, and the Kaiguard might not know what had happened.

The earthen defense had been a good idea, something to render Kaiguard invincible from the outside, however it wouldn't work within Kaiguard's body, and the electric charge would be directed to the creature's sensitive inner organs making this attack especially effective.

Though Aqua Shot is considered a stream, the move is actually short-lived, and thus by the time the Aqua Shot was dodged and the Shock fired, the attack had left Kaiguard's mouth. The electricity discharged from the end of the attack and met a slab. Both collapsed and were rendered useless.

Now Sparwire was a little more than a foot from Kaiguard, almost level with the top of its shell. A slab popped up in front of the Sparwire's flight pattern, and two Earth Shots came from either side of it. Kaiguard backed up slightly and remained on the defensive, though it doubted with its innate that any of Sparwire's moves would do anything damaging until the earthen shell was broken and the original shell revealed.

((This battle is invalidated, and no action taken, past the tenth post of this battle.))

"Well.. this battle is going no where fast. It seems that Wune can't hit Sparwire, and vise versa. However, keep in mind that I have to be here from noon to midnight anyway, and if we hit the midnight, this battle is invalidated. There are people behind you in line. If you can't honestly think of a way to approach my Wune underground, and intend to just dodge all day with that Sparwire, leave," Ankio remarked.

((I will NOT allow you making up rules to force battles into your favor. This is a final warning.))
