Tournament Battle 1 - Auren vs Carl Empty
PostSubject: Tournament Battle 1 - Auren vs Carl   Tournament Battle 1 - Auren vs Carl I_icon_minitimeThu Apr 22, 2010 2:46 pm

Carl strode slowly into the arena. Apparently, according to the secretaries, he was to battle one Auren Leland, in the opening match of the Beginner's Tournament. Sparwire was still contained within the dog tag, awaiting it's release. Carl strode over to the middle of the arena. It was a mix of textures and terrain, he noted. There were some pools in the arena, but also contained a mix of pebbles, sand and concrete, rather haphazardly.

Carl stared at the opposing entracing, waiting for Auren to arrive.

There was a loud thunk noise from the other side of the arena, at the point of the entrance, and muffled yelling could be heard.

"What do you mean it's stuck? We're supposed to keep this arena in top shape!"

Nothing could be heard for a few more moments.

"Hey, you! You've got the Natrelmon, why don't you open it!"

Then, a bit of glowing light could be seen around the hinges of the left door. First at the bottom, then at the top. The door wobbled.

"NO! Blow it the other way, the other way!" Frantic, but still muffled yelling could be heard, this time a different voice.

The heavy, large arena door crashed down onto the floor of the sandy arena. That was also grassy, well watered, supplied with malleable clay, and occasional metal rich rubble. A truly balanced arena for all types.

Auren Leland with his hovering Penkaz strode into the arena, attempting to preserve what little dignity they had left.

"Uh, sorry about that. Anyway, good luck." He offered, somewhat sheepishly.

Carl released his Sparwire a few feet in front of him by dramatically ripping the dog tag off his metal chain link, and then replacing it back on after Sparwire was released in a haze of yellow smoke. He evaluated his opponent quickly, as he knew time was of the essence. He looked foolish, but he had a sword with him and Carl figured he'd be more skilled than he appeared.

Sparwire hovered lazily in the air about five feet above Carl. Carl knew that Sparwire was in a state of extreme readiness, and could zip around at a moment's notice. Auren couldn't know that, and it was a simple, yet effective facade to get the ball rolling.

"Right then. I don't have a specific strategy for air to air battles so, um, do what you will till I come up with him." Auren muttered to his natrelmon.

Penkaz immediately began breaking into a full speed flight towards Sparwire, smiling and calling out as happily as a gecko-dragon could, with extreme lust for battle in it's eyes.

"EXCEPT A KAMIKAZE ATTACK!" Auren called out, frightened that he was going to lose in an instant because of his Penkaz's interesting personality traits.

Penkaz looked heartbroken, and fluttered about fifteen feet away from Sparwire at equal height. He didn't know what he wanted to do other than attack head on.

As soon as Penkaz started to move, Carl called out

"Shock, now!"

Sparwire obliged, suddenly in full battle position. Penkaz was still charging at this point, and it would be extremely difficult if not impossible for the Penkaz to dodge, since it was going full speed towards Sparwire. If it stopped, it wouldn't be able to change directions in time.

Auren used a feeble wall to block the spark, with the feeble wall collapsing as it was struck. "Moron, stop!" He yelled to Penkaz.

Penkaz stopped, looking glum.

"He's got longer range, so approach slowly." Auren explained as to a little child, while he began walked forward. He wanted to be a bit closer so that he could see more.

Penkaz flicked his tail agitatedly, but followed the order, approaching the Sparwire slowly.

"Eh, I hope I think of something by the time he's in range." Auren muttered to himself.

As soon as Carl saw the feeble wall fly up, he ordered to Sparwire

"Follow up with another Shock, Sparwire"

Sparwire again obliged, firing off another Shock. It zoomed towards Penkaz, and they were closer to each other, so it would hit in a very short amount of time. Since Auren was talking to Penkaz, and the distance was now negligible, Carl thought that he would have a good chance of hitting him.

Except for the important fact that Penkaz dodged. He had no specified action for during the time Auren was talking. He could have been singing, dancing, or even writing poetry. However, he settled for a quick loop the loop, dodging the shock.

At which point it was the other person's post again, because Gecko was no longer willing to be timelapsed. There's your prize, thanks for playing.

Carl readied his reflexes, he was not going to be caught off guard by another kamikaze attack by the erratic Penkaz.

"Whirlwind, Sparwire! " Carl said. Sparwire immediately fired off a whirlwind at the slowly approaching Penkaz. There was almost no gap in time from Carl saying this, and Penkaz being ordered to advance, so a timelapse was impossible.

The whirlwind dissipated uselessly. "You haven't used that attack before have you? You can't launch it more than a few feet away from your Natrelmon." Auren spoke, still prepared to recall his natrelmon or cast a feeble wall while he said this, however.

Penkaz looked at Sparwire strangely while he slowly approached. It could be considered the gecko equivalent of raising one's eyebrow.

"Sparwire, cast Shock! At the same time, move to the left!" Carl said, maintaining his heightened state, ready to react and cast Feeble Wall. At this point Sparwire and Penkaz were still about twelve feet apart, since Penkaz's speed was quite slow. Sparwire sent the shock out and immediately moved to the left

Penkaz dodged to his right and accelerated slightly as he continued on a constantly updating intercept course for Sparwire's current position, but not taking into account Sparwire's future movement.

"Now, Sparwire, turn and use Shock!" Carl said. Penkaz was now only ten feet apart. The shock would have to disorient and stop Penkaz's momentum, no matter at which point of the movement Penkaz dodged. " Carl was still watching both Natrelmon intently throughout this, ready to intercept at any time.

Penkaz smoothly flapped his wings once with strength, gaining enough height to just pass over the shock while maintaining his momentum. As he was doing so, he gave a short burst of dragonbreath at the turned Sparwire.

Since the range was still ten feet, Penkaz's attack simply dissipated. But Sparwire wasn't around to see it, Carl had already issued new commands as soon as Penkaz flapped higher.

"Duck, rise and Whirlwind! " Carl commanded.

As Penkaz rose, Sparwire was able to duck underneath, rise quickly, and get into minimum range to use Whirlwind. The attack was sent, wings flapping fiercely, right at Penkaz's exposed underbelly. The attack would slam into Penkaz, almost definitely knocking it off balance.

Thoughout all this, like always, Carl maintained his state of readiness, ready to interrupt at any time.

As Sparwire was ducking down, underneath, and getting into the minimum range for whirlwind, Penkaz continued flying forward, and dove down, behind Sparwire. He breathed dragonfire at Sparwire both while it was getting into range, and once it actually started firing the attack at where Penkaz previously was, from above in relation to the upward tilting Sparwire. For pretty much the entire post. All of this fire took into account Sparwire's motion of course, so it would hit in the absence of feeble walls because Sparwire's course was set. Because he would be firing at Sparwire for quite some time, even all three feeble walls would only block about 50% of the attack because Sparwire's movement would prevent them from covering the entire area between Sparwire and Penkaz. He was able to do this because Sparwire attempted to complete several seconds worth of actions during the time Penkaz flapped his wings once. Which is downright impossible.

As Penkaz was doing this, Carl threw up a Feeble Wall directly behind Sparwire. True, his attack has nearly had Carl cornered, but Sparwire was able to keep moving after firing the whirlwind and fly further up. The Feeble Wall was able to momentarily stop the dragonbreath, which enabled Sparwire to fly a good ten feet up, the Dragonbreath dissipating. As Sparwire flew, it also turned around, so it was facing Penkaz at a rough diagonal direction.

As several seconds of Dragonbreath contacted Sparwire head on, though the finishing burst didn't contact, Sparwire's relic would begin to glow, a sign of impending death.

Penkaz broke off, smiling and smug. Normally, he'd try and finish it. But seeing that all his momentum was taking him in the wrong direction to chase Sparwire, he'd have to break off to the side anyway, so might as well try and be cool about it.

Auren called out, "I think this is the end of the line. Good fight." He'd enjoyed it somewhat, save for the scare at the start.

Carl withdrew his Sparwire. He was angry, and just exited the arena. He didn't know what to do, so he just sat on a bench outside the arena.
