Arcanist

Metamagic: Chains - 2AP
Level 1

The Arcanist subtly modifies a spell, causing it to additionally root enemies it hits for 2 seconds. Enemies that are rooted by this effect cannot be rooted again for two exchanges.

Adrenaline
Level 2

The Arcanist gains between 1 and 4 AP immediately, and loses that much AP at the beginning of the next exchange. Adrenaline has a cooldown of three exchanges.

Arcane Buffet I
Level 4

Whenever the Arcanist casts a spell, they can choose to spend 1 additional AP. When they do, a wave of force is emitted from the arcanist in a point blank area of effect, ten feet in radius, that knocks back all enemies until they are 11 feet away from the Arcanist. If Arcane Buffet has been cast within the past three exchanges, the Arcanist takes 1 damage for each time it has been cast in the past three exchanges.

Specialisation
Level 5

The Arcanist chooses a school of magic that they know to become their speciality.

Whenever the Arcanist would apply Metamagic to a spell from the specialised school, it costs 1 AP less.

Augment Slot
Level 6

Metamagic: Cascade - 2 AP
Level 7

The Arcanist modifies a spell that creates an area of effect to cost 2 additional AP but, after a delay of one exchange, repeat its effects in a 5 foot radius circle where the spell dissipated or hit its target after a delay of one exchange. This effect is clearly visible.

Doublecast
Level 8

The Arcanist can now cast two spells simultaneously (but must pay AP for both). If one of these spells is from their Specialised school, they may channel one spell while moving and cast spells from the Specialised school while channelling.

If the Arcanist is currently benefiting from Twinned Hearts, this also applies to the Dragon-type Natrelmon.

Augment Slot
Level 9

Defensive Casting - 1 AP
Level 10

The Arcanist can choose to spend 1 additional AP when casting a spell to imbue it with defensive properties. The spell's energy will disperse and become a Feeble Wall when it comes into contact with an enemy attack or at the Arcanist's command.

Mage's Gambit - 2AP
Level 11

The Arcanist is able to recall the energy that they have expended for a spell, causing it to immediately cease. The Arcanist regains a use of the spell. Mage's Gambit has a three exchange cooldown.

Level 12

Metamagic: Concealment - 3 AP
Level 13

The Arcanist modifies a spell that has a projectile to cost 3 additional AP but be completely unidentifiable until it hits an opponent or otherwise triggers.

Triplecast
Level 14

The Arcanist may now cast up to three spells simultaneously. Channelled spells from their specialist school now complete their channel after one exchange (but are treated as if they were channelled for their full duration) and can be cast while moving.

If the Arcanist benefits from Twinned Hearts, their Dragon-type also gains this benefit.

Metamagic: Torturous - 4 AP
Level 16

The Arcanist modifies a spell that debuffs an enemy to have its duration doubled and be unable to be Purged.

Arcane Buffet II
Level 17

The Arcanist no longer takes damage from Arcane Buffet. Additionally, it will automatically trigger when an enemy comes within 5 feet of the Arcanist once every five exchanges.

Augment Slot
Level 18

Metamagic: Destructive - 3 AP
Level 19

The Arcanist modifies a spell that deals damage to instead deal double that damage if it hits. When a Destructive spell is cast, the Arcanist takes 2 damage.

Specialisation II
Level 20

The Arcanist achieves mastery over their specialised school. The first instance of Metamagic applied to each unique spell they cast from that school costs 0.

If a spell from the specialised school would deal less than 4 damage (before weakness and resistance are applied), it instead deals 4 damage.
