General Toran RP

It was an odd feeling to have been dead for over two weeks and then be brought back. It was hard to explain how everything felt different, but at the same time, was exactly the same. It was just one of those kinds of events that changes you and Kimlee knew that she was changed, she just didn't necessarily know how.

Toran, as well, seemed to have had a similar event to her. The Arena was still being rebuilt on the outside from the attack by a strange group of people pursuing something called a Black Shard. Kimlee didn't know that much about them, which she assumed was well orchestrated, but she could at least surmise that they were valuable in some manner.

Toran's general populace seemed much more on edge too. The normally friendly city lacked that atmosphere that made it one of the areas new trainers gravitated towards. It felt colder, so much so that Kimlee almost found herself shivering on more than one occasion. Her Sparwire, perched on her shoulder, did its best to try to cheer her up with various antics, but she couldn't seem to muster much of her former smile.

After walking through the city, partially in hopes of finding her brother, Kimlee sat down in the town square to rest, letting lose her Mythin as well, so the two could occupy each other while Kimlee let herself get absorbed in her thoughts.

"Feels familiar eh?" Kal said quietly. He had finally arrived in Toran and it felt strange to him. On Kal's back was a stained cloak, with a hood that wasn't exactly on his head. It was more on his left shoulder. What this strange outfit actually was, was Olena. Kal turned his head slightly as he walked down the sidewalk, the eyes just looked at him and blinked. She was quiet and just looked around. Kal smiled to himself and turned forward.

As he absentmindedly wandered towards the town square(without noticing it) he began to notice that there was a strange atmosphere in the town. The people seemed to be on edge and Kal couldn't figure out why. As he became more focused he arrived at what he could only guess was the town square. As he watched the people about he deemed most of them uninteresting until he noticed someone sitting down with two Natrelmon out and near her. She seemed different than the people around.

Olena shook slightly and Kal understood. He walked towards her, ignoring anything else around him. To him, nothing else was there as none of it interested him. Kal slowly came to a stop and waved to her.

"Hello." He said simply.

It took Kimlee a moment to process that the young man was talking to her. The square, while not particularly busy, still had been something she had been tuning out. It started her slightly, but she managed to stifle much of a physical reaction to it.

"Oh, hello," she said, nodding and smiling. "Is there something I can help you with?" She tried to sound as cheerful as before, but she felt like her own voice had turned darker. She just felt like she couldn't be like she used to - friendly and upbeat. There was something missing from her old charm.

"Oh! You are from Relin!" she exclaimed, her brain kicking in midway through. Her cheeks reddened a bit at the foolishness of not instantly picking out the face, "I am sorry, but I don't remember your name, but it is good to see another person from Relin around her."

Relin, while a major 'city' in Nerta, it was the smallest of them all and most of the people knew each other - or at least knew of each other. The families were generally well established and it was hard to really not end up running into a person at some point unless they spent their entire lives inside. She had seen Kal once or twice around the city, but she didn't know him personally.

Kal smiled slightly and nodded. Olena on the other hand just stared at both the Sparwire and Mythin. Olena moved off of Kal's back, which removed his odd hood look. Olena hovered behind his left leg, peeking out at both the Natrelmon and Kimlee.

"Indeed, and I do recognize you. Although I have been outside of Relin for a while I believe your name is..." Kal began but before he could Olena rose back up to his shoulder and pointed one of her arms at the ground. Kal received the signal. ~Was that really necessary? I understand your want to help and that you have a good memory.~Kal thought, even though he knew Olena wasn't telepathic or anything. "Kim right?" He finished. He crouched down and looked at Mythin. He then moved his gaze to Sparwire.

"Your Sparwire and Mythin look amazing." Kal said as he smiled at them. He always loved being around Natrelmon. He liked to believe he gave off a warm, friendly vibe to all animals and Natrelmon alike. After all, he bonded with Olena and Eletta easily before they became his. While still watching the Natrelmon he said, "My name's Kal, Kal Stride."

Kimlee laughed at Kal, smiling at the irony, "Kimlee actually, Kimlee Odayaka. My brother is Eien Odayaka." Uttering her brother'ss name sent a chill through her body. She had left only a couple days after him and she was here, at Toran, just starting her journey while Eien was who knew where.

At the compliment, Kimlee's Sparwire puffed his feathers out, making himself about twice his normal size. He was kind of impish on occasion, but he had bonded well with Kimlee despite the occasional troublemaking. Her Mythin was much more laid back and merely let its eyes swirl in response to the compliment, indicating general acknowledgement.

"I think you have your thanks," she laughed at the antics. "I see you started with an Olena," she smiled, nodding at his Natrelmon. She had actually sensed the Natrelmon, oddly enough, a fair ways off. She hadn't had this kind of sense anytime before. It too, sent chills through her body. It wasn't normal for her to be able to sense ghosts like this. She almost felt uneasy.

"When did you leave Relin?" she asked, hoping that Kal maybe had run into her brother on his way down. She wondered where he was and thought about scrapping her journey altogether and returning home to find him. She knew he was fine, but she felt like she could almost feel his worry for her from Toran.

Kal moved from a crouched position to sitting with his legs crossed on the ground. Olena went back to her original position of hanging on his shoulders, with her hood resting on his right shoulder. She just watched Sparwire puff up and uttered a quiet almost squeal like sound. Kal understood it was to signal she was amused in an interested way.

"Sorry, I was never good with names." Kal laughed, although he was being honest. "Hmmm, I left Relin about four and a half years ago. I visited once or twice, but I was mainly travelling. I was in Lifan about two years ago, and just exploring in general. That's when I met Olena and later Eletta." He explained.

"I'll mirror you now, when did you leave Relin?" Kal asked. He hadn't been home in a while, so he was genuinely curious if everything was normal and he was intrigued by Kimlee. She seemed different - or maybe it was just she didn't make him feel uncomfortable. Yet.

Olena's eyes moved over to Mythin and when she saw his eyes swirl she began to copy him. Unfortunately, she kept doing it and eventually seemed to get a little dizzy. She closed her eyes and sunk down a bit, just allowing the look of hood on his shoulder.

Kimlee adjust her seat slightly, putting out her arm so Sparwire could fly up onto it. She thought about how to best answer his question.

"Best guess I have is probably sometime between two and three weeks ago," she responded, her voice almost dropping to a whisper for a moment, "I was dead for over two of them. I kind of have some gaps in my timeline now. It feels really awkward to be honest."

She stared intently at Sparwire. It was an awkward avenue of conversation to be going down. Resurrection magicks were rare and powerful - and not to be used lightly. In this day and age, very few were ever brought back from the dead. Some circles found the art to be very much a taboo, a remnant of the wars. Kimlee always thought that was mostly because there were few who were capable of using such magicks and they feared it. That, however, had also been before having been to the other side of the Void herself. She wasn't sure how she felt about it now.

Her Mythin could sense Kimlee's discomfort and landed on her free side on the bench, staying close to her. Sparwire merely looked at her quizzically, trying to understand the situation better.

While Kal's face didn't show any change to Kimlee telling him this, inside however he was shocked.

"That would explain something..." Kal muttered almost inaudibly. He glanced at Olena. ~Does that mean that this girl could somehow be related to Ghost types?Maybe she also shares a connection with them. This would certainly be a reasonable conclusion to arrive at. Yet I believe that isn't something I - or anyone should bring up. Wow... I really went somewhere weird.~ Kal thought. He no longer noticed the two natrelmon. His attention was solely focused on her. Even if he didn't want to say it, he did without missing a beat.

"Does Olena's presence bother you?" Kal asked. Olena popped up at this, she was intrigued by Kimlee now. At least she was now more than she was before. "I don't mean to push you, but since you infact were in that position, it could be reasonable to think that you have some sort of connection to Gho-" Kal stopped himself. He was crossing a line with someone he just met, and not just that but also from his hometown.

"Forgive me." He said, his expression changed from smiling to almost blank, but his mouth was slightly frowning. He felt bad for asking.

Kimlee moved her left hand gesturing for him not to worry.

"I'm honestly not sure what it is. I can sense and see ghosts in a strange way. I can see at the least the beginning of what I can only assume is your Olena's Haunting Grounds. I'm just not used to it. Olena doesn't bother me, I bother me, I guess."

She paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to explain, "It is just a whole bunch of new stuff. I think it is actually good I talked about it rather than just let it sit in the back of my mind an fester."

She knew that there were people in the world that could see ghosts and could sense them like she could, but they were typically born with the ability. It was often genetic, but could skip around a fair amount. She, however, hadn't known any mediums herself.

"I can't be certain, but I think that my death and resurrection somehow unlocked some form of mediumship in me," she added, trying to explain to Kal a bit more. "But, I also don't know any mediums personally, so I don't know what is normal any more right now. I guess it would be like being colorblind and then suddenly not." She shrugged slightly, not necessarily the most pleased with her description.

She smiled a bit, trying to perk herself up, "How long are you staying in Toran, do you think?" She had planned for a week at the most for herself, just wanting to get the Arena out of the way and head up to Ward. It'd be interesting to see how many other trainers would be showing up in that timeframe as well. She doubted Kal would be the only new face to Toran.

"While I can't honestly say I can relate I do understand in a way. About a year ago I was travelling back towards Relin and I came down with some sort of illness. I managed to make it to a nearby town. I was coming from Lifan. It progressed rapidly and some man took me in. I remember feeling weak then darkness. I woke up four days later. He told me that briefly that my heart had stopped. It restarted almost immediately afterwords. He then healed me until I was well enough to head back. " Kal paused for a moment as he remembered bits and pieces. "I remember something from being unconscious. I was surrounded by darkness until I saw something. Then I woke up. Shortly after my recovery I ran into Olena."

Olena floated over from Kal towards Kimlee. She stopped about a foot away. Uncertain. Kal tensed slightly at Olena's movement. Force of habit. He relaxed immediately. He froze for a moment.

"I guess I'm trying to say you aren't alone in that respect. Then again it was most likely two different scenarios." He said quietly. Kal shook his head.

"I'm not sure. I never really wanted to become a Natrelmon trainer or anything. I just came to my two. I'll give the arena a go. But nevertheless I don't plan on being here for very long. The town gives a weird vibe, and I don't know why. I've lived enough to know that it isn't a good one. So I'll probably stay a few days, a week would be unlikely. I'm probably going to head up north after I finish here." Kal said more as thinking out loud instead of answering her, but none the less answering her anyway.

Kimlee listened politely. While the situations were very different, she appreciate his attempt to try to understand what had happened to her. It at least made her feel less awkward about the situation.

"The vibe thing..." she commented, pausing briefly, "From what I hear is that Toran was attacked by some strange men. They took out the Arena Master her in an attempt to steal a Black Shard. I'm not entirely sure what that is though or why it is important to them."

The attack was disturbing, even to her. Normally she was confident in her abilities, but apparently one of the Mages they had brought with them was incredibly potent and they had all had really well trained Natrelmon. Kimlee suspected that such a thing brought back memories of the war to these people, which is what probably bothered them about the whole thing.

"I wouldn't worry about it though. I don't think you'd have to be here much longer than that anyway. Although, I do hear the new Arena master is quite skilled."

Kal stood up and Olena floated right over to him. He stretched. He looked down at Olena and he smiled at her. He placed his hand ontop of the hood and returned his gaze to Kimlee. He realized his awkward attempt probably missed it's mark as he himself didn't really know what he was saying or why. It sort of just came out.

"Have you been in the city for long? I just arrived and I've never been here before so I'm not too sure where I can find a supply store or anything. I was wondering if you would mind helping out with locating it." Kal asked. He was eager to get a relic or two so he could head out of the city and into the wild.

~I can't believe that people attacked a city, let alone taking out an Arena Master. Could this mean other cities are open for future attack? ...No point in worrying about it, I can't do anything about it at the moment.~ Kal thought. Hearing the news didn't scare him because he was afraid of running into them and getting hurt, but rather what would happen to his natrelmon. He didn't really want to know what happened to the previous Arena Master's natrelmon.

Kimlee nodded at his request.

"I haven't been here long, but I know of a couple shops that sell relics nearby. There are a lot of places that cater specifically to trainers around here - that is a lot of what Toran is known for nowadays," she explained, rising up from the bench.

Kimlee's Mythin flew around her in lazy circles, following its trainer, while Sparwire began to dart ahead of the group in an attempt to lead them, even though it had no idea where to go.

"I'm not much of an outdoors person to be honest. I haven't made any attempt to try to capture any new Natrelmon. I should probably buy a couple of relics myself so I can at least pretend to fulfill my role as a Natrelmon trainer." She laughed a bit at herself. She generally had no issue using self-deprecating humor.

Kal laughed at that last bit. Olena took back her favorite position and hung on to Kal's shoulders.

"I was actually planning on going out and trying to find a wild one after I bought some relics. If you're up for it we could also do a friendly battle. I personally haven't been in any battles before so I am sort of a greenhorn.' Kal explained. He was sort of embarrassed by this fact but he wasn't afraid to show it. "Unfortunately only Olena can really battle, not much an egg can do." He laughed at that last bit. He liked Eletta but he needed to train her so she could be more battle ready.

Kal smiled slightly at Sparwire, he was enjoying seeing other Natrelmon. He hadn't been around that many different natrelmon before so it was a nice experience for him to grow comfortable around both natrelmon that weren't wild or his and their respective trainer.

"I'd be game for that," Kimlee responded. She wanted to get Sparwire some more experience before. As she said that, her Sparwire began to glow with a strange light. It was bright enough that Kimlee couldn't really look at him directly.

After a moment, the light faded, replacing her Sparwire's frame was a Crowire.

"Looks like Spar-," she stated, catching herself, "I mean, Crowire is ready for battle." She smiled at her companion, who seemed much more focused than normal. "We can get your relics first if you'd like though. I think Crowire is ready whenever though."

Kimlee's Crowire cawed in response, now perched on a nearby tree branch of a medium sized oak in one of the square's garden sections. Her Mythin seemed unimpressed by the advancement of his companion and his eyes swirled a dull green in boredom.

"Woah..." Kal froze in astonishment. He had never witnessed anything like that. He shook his head. "Natrelmon keep on surprising me." He smiled. "We can get relics afterwords. I'll just us-" Kal started and he stuffed his right hand into his pocket and produced a shiny light blue rock. It was completely smooth.

"What's up, Eletta?" Kal said. As a form took shape Kal's jaw dropped as what came out was a rather large hound. The hound barked excitedly. The sunlight reflected off of the ice on it's fur and Kal smiled widely. "Guess you're Eishund now."

Eishund barked and looked at Kal, wagging it's tail furiously. Kal bent down to pet her but she immediately licked his face. Kal made a face that could only be described as a cross between minor surprise and bewilderment. It was very cold. Kal patted her on her head and stood up.

"Well, looks like Eis is ready when you are. Where would you like to do this at?" He asked.

With a burst of speed, Rook entered Toran's city limits. A swift current from the north had made the flight pleasant, although the same could not be said of his reasons for returning here. Dark studies and bloody nights had led him to a malicious idea.

"I pray that Master will approve of my proposal.." Thought Rook with a grim face. It would not bode well for his plans if he was refused. Everything he yearned for depended upon this simple answer.

Tiny specks on the ground drew his attention.Flying closer, It appeared to be the beginnings of a battle between an man and an attractive female. Rook flies to approximately 40 feet over the area between then and mocks sits cross legged to watch the fight.

Rook can't help but feel the irony in finding this battle between obviously new trainers just as he is on his way to propose his idea.

"This should be interesting."

"The square should do fine," Kimlee responded, nodding. She began to step out about 40 feet between Kal and herself. She knew that it would give them enough starting space for their battle. Kimlee's Crowire took flight and would take position in front of her, about 10 feet off the ground.

"Whenever you are ready," she smiled fiendishly, taking a defensive position herself in case Kal was a type of person to involve himself. Most people from Relin were fairly capable at handling themselves without their Natrelmon, but it was a rare type of combat.

Unlike her brother, who was a Telepath, Kimlee had to give verbal commands to her Natrelmon. Positioning would be key in this battle for her.

Kal looked around him, taking in the surroundings of the square. He was pretty well accustomed to them since he had been here long enough. He looked focused on Eis and nodded. Eishund walked forward about 3 feet and remained still.

"I know you weren't training with us, but try to remember what I drilled into Olena." Kal said quietly. He took out a glossy black rock and held it to Olena. "Take a nap" After having her return to his stone he placed it back into his left pocket. He peered at Kimlee, noticing the stance she took. ~Looks like she's acquainted herself with hand to hand. Can't say I'm shocked since she's from Relin. However, it's not yet time for that.~ Kal thought as he closed his eyes. After about five seconds he opened them slowly. There was a subtle change in his look. The easy going look was removed from his face. His eyes had a hard look in them.

"Here we go." He called out to Kimlee. "Frostbolt!" Kal commanded and Eis responded. Eis launched a frostbolt at Crowire at 15 ft/sec. Eishund had all of it's legs slightly bent, with her front two paws slightly pointing off to the right.

"Tumble left and fast Shock!" Kimlee called in response to the attack, her Crowire rolling to the left to avoid the Frostbolt narrowly, launching off of a Shock immediately after clearing the Frostbolt. It was a fast attack, Kimlee using the Variable Resistor to weaken the damage from the Shock, but to double its approach speed, hoping to catch them off guard a bit.

She would then raise her hand to signal an ascent to her Crowire to get some height in the air. Eishund was a potent opponent, especially with its Light type being exceptionally difficult for many to deal with. She had to be careful of that as well. Although, a singular Frostbolt would signal disaster for her Crowire as well.

She did, as well, have access to her magic if she needed. Kimlee knew the basic Abjuration as all trainers did, but she also knew how to use her other spells. She was gifted in one regards, in that she had the capacity for additional magic. She knew Hydromancy, Abjuration, Invocation, and basic Cryomancy. She wanted to hold onto her spells as long as possible before making use of them. They could become precious commodities in this battle.

"Right!" Kal commanded and Eishund dashed off to the right. With Eishund ready to move right at a moments notice with it's front paws already turned in that direction, it was able to avoid the Shock. The shock hit the ground where Eishund was standing moments ago. The attack was fast enough to surprise Kal. He didn't expect that fast of an attack. Eishund had moved three from from it's initial position.

"Eishund, again Frostbolt!" Kal commanded. Eishund fired another frostbolt at Crowire. Kal looked in front of him. Kal looked over at Kimlee and came to a conclusion. Kal moved his hands in front him quickly. He was still trying to figure out what to do with Crowire in the air. He knew that it would be more difficult to hit it when it had that much freedom.

"Accelerate up!" Kimlee called, her Crowire ascending faster to avoid the Frostbolt. While there was an advantage to her position with her Crowire, it was also just as hard for her to hit Eishund as well.

"Fast Shock again!" she added, calling to her companion. Like before, another Shock would shoot out at the Eishund, but this time, Kimlee had a different plan for it. It was, like before, on a path to impact with Eishund. She smiled a bit, enjoying the fight. It was kind of exhilarating to be fighting like this, even if it was just for fun. It was a match of wits and the strengths of the bonds with their Natrelmon.

"Winter's Chill!" Kal called. With Crowire higher in the air, Kal figured it was time to play a bit more aggressively. Eishund let loose a thin, blue-white beam ice from it's mouth. It was aimed directly at the shock. Travelling at 15 ft/s Kal was fairly sure it wouldn't hit, but that wasn't the point. He intended for it to blast through the shock. Eishund hadn't moved except to let off his attack. He was still in his same position.

Kal's body began to tremble as the second shock was fired. He didn't notice it, but a grin began to form on his face. He was starting to enjoy this. He hadn't had a battle between two Natrelmon before, but it was fueling his sense of battle. He was slowly getting fired up. Kal extended his right arm out straight and placed his left hand ontop of his forearm.

The direct attack onto her Shock was surprising, but remaining composed Kimlee executed her strategy with Crowire.

"Lightning Conduit!" she called hastily, splitting the shock into a Multibolt just before the Winter's Chill would impact with it. She snapped her fingers as well, something she had learned from her brother, indicating she wanted her Crowire to use its Variable Resistor to accelerate the Multibolt along the sides of the Winter's Chill.

To deal with the Winter's chill she flipped her arm mid snap, indicating a roll to her Crowire who could still see her arm in its peripheral vision. It would avoid the Winters Chill for a bit and she hoped the 3 arcs of lighting from her now Multibolt would force Kal's Eishund out of position and end the channel. If needed, she still could release one of her Feeble Walls just before impact, even though there wouldn't be much time.

"Arc your back, and follow Crowire!" Kal commanded. Eishund bent low and pushed forward on it's legs, so that it was stretching forward as much as possible without moving. Doing this caused the beam to lower slightly, enough to take out the bottom most right shock. Next with an easy flick of it's neck, Eishund shifted the beam to the right, causing a large sweeping motion towards Crowire. As Eishund dropped low, Kal mirrored Eishund by dropping to his knees while flicking his wrist to have his palm facing upward.

"Feeble Wall!" Kal shouted, forming 2 3'x3' wall over Eishund. The first was an inch or two above his ears. He had it placed so a corner was sticking out above Eishund's left side of his face, just a few inches. What this did was to allow Eishund to continue to channel his Winter's Chill while offering protection from two remaining shocks. The majority of the wall was covering his upper body. The second wall hover was placed over it, but starting at the middle of the first wall, but with the corner in the middle of it. This was above to to guard his rear. Essentially it was like have two X's on top of each other. The bottom right line of the first X was covered by the upper left corner of the second. With the top left corner of the first wall jutting out over his left ear.
