PostSubject: In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the Sven sleeps tonight.   Sun Oct 31, 2010 4:57 pm

That battle wasn't mine to win. Thought Sven as he calmly rested his back against a study tree. He was comforted by the strong smell of vegetation around him, the wafting scent of insentient organic matter living in perfect harmony and symbiosis with each other. It was the smell of the dried dew on the jungle floor; the smell of the leaking sap from various barks. It was the smell of life. And Sven savored every moment of it.

I'll win my next battle. I'll win it no matter the cost. Sven flinched as his subconscious raced ahead of him. What was he thinking "no matter the cost"? Of course he'd surrender if the life of his Natrelmon was on the line. But he'd strive to make sure that would never happen. But to do that, he had to be sure he could take on any opponent he needed to. And for that, he'd have to have a superior team. That Olena I fought seemed capable enough. What were its types again? Ghost and Dark. Yes, that's it. I'll compose a Ghost and Dark team. And maybe Water. As he thought of Water, he rubbed his necklace, the necklace his Kaigara rested in. He would never forget his first Natrelmon, she always came first. Turtatresta was as important as any other Natrelmon, more so, really.

If he wanted a team, he had to take action. What better place to look for a Natrelmon than the mighty jungles of Sakura? Surely he could find a good variety of Natrelmon here. So he set out into the forest, and stumbled across a magnificent pool of crystal quality water. Here was a place he could find a gathering of fighting companions. So he assumed his position on the trees situated on the interior of the clearing in which the pond was situated, and waited...

After around a half an hour, Sven had only seen a speedy light pass in front of his eyes. He remembered the tell-tale sign of a Wispy from a book he had read. They were little trios of fairy like creatures. A pure electric type, they emitted a little light as they live. They were too weak for what Sven had in mind. He needed quick Natrelmon, yes, but even the most simple of attack could decimate a Wispy. So no, that wouldn't do. But as he sat there, he reflected upon the missed Natrelmon. Maybe he could have sold it?

Gah! I missed a perfect chance to make a decent amount of pocket cash. Sven needed something to console him. So, carefully, he made his way over to the clear pool of water and looked at his rippling reflection. He could barely make out his face, but his skin was just as pale as it always was. Blond locks of hair hung over his forehead, protruding from his gray hood. Ultimately, he had a look of indifference on his face, though a slight scowl gave away more negative feelings. He was still harboring resentment against his tournament battle. It wasn't his fault, he reassured himself. It wasn't even Turtatresta's fault.

It was fate's fault. It was damn fate's fault. It always was.

In an attempt to calm his turbulent thoughts, he dipped his hand into the water, watching refraction trick his eyes into thinking his hands had shrunk. The cold pool send a rippling shock of pleasure up his arm and throughout his body. The faint chirping sound of some far off bird fit perfectly into his almost meditative mood. Even if a Natrelmon just happened to come by at this very moment, he's probably wave it off with a smile and return to the therapeutic water. He dipped his first hand in further, down to his elbow, and then dunked his second arm in. It was amazing. This is why I should incorporate Water into my team, its so relaxing.

And suddenly, he became alert. His hands shot from the water, flinging the chilled liquid every which way. The tips of his sleeves were darkened from the water. His arms glistened from being so... well... wet. I can't just lay around if I want a Natrelmon. I have to put forth the effort as well. With this new invigorated mantra, Sven released Turtatresta into the open. She grunted excitedly and looked around, still expecting to be in battle with Olena. She was confused and began shifting uneasily back and forth, looking for her opponent.

Sven bent down and patted the head of his worried friend. "Woah, woah, cool it, Turtatresta. We're OK. Nobody to fight. Nobody yet, anyway. Let's go find another companion, kay?" The turtle looked at him and grunted, slightly offended by the fact that Sven wanted another member of the party. Of course, it was a turtle and shouldn't be thinking such things, if at all thinking on that kind of level. So it trotted alongside its master as the both of them traveled further into the deep, inviting forest.

It wasn't until a few minutes after a long walk did Sven slow, and motion for Kaigara to slow as well. If they separated the sounds of the forest from the closer silence, one could make out a low rustling sound in the bush in front of them. This could be it, thought Sven, preparing a relic and ordering Kaigara to move slightly forward and keep on guard.

I'm going to one-line. Bree and Alex did it. Apparently I was suppose to look at the guide for a specific reason WHY they could do it, but found none. So, here goes. Last roll.

Y'know, that was probably invalid anyway. If it was, it didn't count. So ha.

((^ were rerolls.))

The quiet singing of birds woke Sven that fateful morning. As his eyes slowly fluttered open, the intense morning light which shone through the jungle canopy flooding his sight, stunning him for a moment. He shifted uncomfortably, scooting his back up the tree he had chosen to rest against the night before. Turtatresta moaned, having been kept out of her relic for the night. She slept, cuddling with her only friend and master. "Hey, girl." Sven greeted her with a pat on the head. She slowly turned around and nuzzled her face on his backpack, rummaging for food.

"Need something to eat?" It was a more rhetorical question than an actual one. Of course she was hungry. So was he. Sven swung his back to the left, flinging his bag over his left shoulder. It came off easily enough, and he placed it into his lap; a prime location for searching. "You like those strudel cakes, right? The ones with the strawberry?" The Kaigara simply responded with an ecstatic grunt. He took out the processed pastries and held one out to Turtatresta. Being a turtle, she couldn't outright grab it, so she had to munch out of his hand. Sven used his free hand to enjoy the second treat.

After they had their fill of strawberry-iced strudels, Sven spoke up, choking down the last of his dry breakfast. "Let's go looking again, Turtatresta. I'm sure we'll find something this time." Turtatresta began to protest but opted not to. It might not hurt to have another friend. So Sven brushed the crumbs from his shirt, returned his pack to his back, and signaled the Kaigara to follow him even deeper into the jungle. He was going for fast, powerful Natrelmon. And he'd stop at nothing to get what he needed to succeed.

"Yes!" Cheered Sven as the scorpion was sucked into his golden ring, causing the ring to glow and emit eerie clicking noises. With one last shrill shriek, the creature was captured. "Just what we needed. You didn't even need to fight it, huh, Turtatresta?" The turtle looked slightly disappoint but relieved as well. Hurriedly, he withdrew his PDA and held the ring - which was now a dark purple - to a small scanner near the end. With a strolling red light, the PDA absorbed the data that the relic recorded. It rang out in a monotonous robotic tone. "Tridion, Poison, level four, female." It gave a brief description of the scorpion, and ran over some statistics. Sven scrolled through the information in a few seconds. "Interesting." He'd say at certain points, looking through facts.

"It isn't a very versatile Natrelmon, but it has its powerful points. She'll do just nicely." He said, dropping his PDA into his pocket and fitting the ring to his index finger. He looked at it for a moment; the color seemed to be swirling about, like a miniature storm in the ring. "How about another, Kaigara?" Sven was feeling primed and ready, adrenaline pumped through his veins from his first captured Natrelmon. He still had three relics, as he observed from the clinking noises coming from his backpack. "There's enough for a whole team of Natrelmon, eh, Turtatresta?" Kaigara cheered out happily, it now wanted new playmates. So Sven decided he'd go venturing in the forest, again, or something. I don't know. That's just what he does.

So, anyway... After about ten minutes of searching, Sven was losing hope. He had expected to run across a giant flock of Natrelmon after he caught Pince, but had no such luck. It had been in the most part his excited stomping through the forest, snapping sticks and crushing leaves. He had to walk more carefully if he really wanted a Natrelmon. And he really, really did. The next place he'd be going was Toran, and that would be easy enough. It was a Fire Arena, and both of Turtatresta's elements could handle Fire. But he didn't think Kaigara would grow powerful if she fought things she could easily beat. So he needed other Natrelmon, ones that were useful and could get a good amount of training from the Arena. And that brought him to where he was now: deep in the jungle. The mighty jungle, one would say. And then he heard something rustle.
