Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 27, 2010 11:18 pm

Key's capture attempts for a Natrelmon so far had yielded him a Reacat and a Metosune, both of which were decent. With his two new Natrelmon he felt confident he could secure himself a place in the later stages of the tournament, the whole purpose Sakura was bustling this time of year. It was definitely good for this city to be the host, when it's yearly tourist attraction was the blooming of the cherry trees. The businesses definitely appreciated it - the service extra friendly in appreciation. Trainers and their families from all over Nerta gathered in Sakura to watch the trainers battle, or take part themselves.

Key, however, was on his own. His family hadn't been able to make the trip to Sakura from Relin. It didn't bother him, as he would have to separate from them shortly anyway, since he would have to travel around completing the gyms and capturing new Natrelmon. It was best to get his foot in the door, by himself, right here and now.

Unlike most tournaments, where your opponent was predetermined, it was a city wide elimination style tournament. Being as Key hadn't won a battle yet, so if he lost, he would be out of the tournament, unless he funded it himself. Once a trainer had defeated every other participant in the tournament, they would be crowned the victor and handsomely rewarded. Key wasn't really interested in the concept of the mystery prize, he just wanted to achieve success, not for his sake, but for the sake of his Kohitsuji. It deserved to do well.

Sakura, being a very landscaped city, had many, many fountains scattered about in what can only be described as a little town square. Many of these were roped off a bit, asking the public to avoid entering them so the trainers could wage battle there. It wasn't a demand, more something that would help make the whole tournament smoother for both the residents and the participants. With this in mind, Key stood outside one of these areas in the southeastern part of Sakura, hoping another trainer would spot him.

Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 27, 2010 11:38 pm

Itsuki and Sakura were also sat in the town square, on the rim of a small fountain in a small corner - the fountain was well-decorated and depicted some old god with a trident and several women surrounding the god, stood at different positions and spouting water from their mouths. Itsuki liked the fountain for the simple reason that it was rather elegant and small, and Sakura could splash around in the smaller pools of water and generally have fun, something Itsuki wanted her to experience often - Fun.

Itsuki himself was quite content just gazing around the small square, watching a few cherry blossoms floating around in the wind, and enjoying the pleasant weather - with Sakura being his hometown Itsuki was fairly used to the weather and Sakura (his natrelmon) was quite obviously used to the city's weather, so they were rather relaxed as they both spotted Key. Itsuki felt like he should get this battle over and done with because, hey, he had no idea how to battle but had entered under parental pressure and Key looked nice.

"Um... Hey, I don't know your name... But do you want to fight? I assume you're in the tournament." Itsuki smiled politely as he walked over to Key and offered his hand in a handshake, he also figured this tournament would allow him to make a few friends to make the journey more enjoyable, as well as provide potential breeding for Natrelmon and more chances to catch, study and maybe befriend the natrelmon.

Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 27, 2010 11:44 pm

Key shook his hand, "I go by Key, and yes, I am here for the tournament as well. And yes, I will accepted that challenge." He smiled fiendishly at that, moving in a half circle to an open area away from Itsuki. Clutching the Key he held so dear before, even more dear now that it housed his Kohitsuji, he summoned the psychic lamb forth with a brilliant flash of light. The ground shone as a lock like symbol and a diamond looking key opened the glyphal seal on the ground, releasing more light and summoning forth his Kohitsuji.

It was a bit flashy, but he rather enjoyed summoning his Kohitsuji to battle. Being polite, Key would let his opponent position his Natrelmon.

There were no spectators to this battle, something that might make most participants wary, but Key knew that the fights were heavily monitored from above by various means. Pinehearst had the resources to basically do whatever it liked tech wise. It even occasionally used rudimentary methods of having people fly over on Natrelmon. It didn't really matter either way.

"You know the wager, 2000 N," Key stated, setting his money off to the side, a sign of detaching himself from it. If he won, he would be in a much better position to continue on in the tournament and hopefully earn some more money.

PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 27, 2010 11:51 pm

"I am Itsuki, Itsuki Mayoi. It is nice to meet you, Key." Itsuki smiled as his Sakura hopped down from his left shoulder to his hand, and then from his left hand to the floor. Itsuki was feeling a rather large sense of consternation, unable to distinguish the butterflies in his stomach as either nerves, terror or sheer excitement. He didn't really understand what the glyphic symbols beneath Key meant - it was very shiny and flashy, though, and Itsuki couldn't help but stare a little as he saw the psychic sheep released from its 'prison', so to speak.

"Your release is very flashy... I like it." Itsuki smiled as he beckoned Sakura forwards and she stood around 10 feet in front of him, achieved by Sakura moving four feet forwards and Itsuki six feet backwards to gain a suitable distance between himself and the fight, but he didn't want to be too far from his Sakura in case something bad happened.

"I don't believe in keeping my Sakura bound to her relic, though... She is very dear to me and I would not want her to feel imprisoned at any time - do you not worry about the same thing?" Itsuki smiled softly, still trying to overcome the almost nauseating consternation of his first battle.

PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 27, 2010 11:58 pm

Key smiled politely, very wary of his opponent's Natrelmon. He was constantly on guard for any attacks in battle, keeping a very close eye on Itsuki and his Sakura. Kohitsuji bleated softly, knowing Key would protect it if it came under attack and it couldn't react, Feeble walls at the ready.

Before Key would begin his attack, he would explain the nature of his Kohitsuji, "Kohitsuji likes time by himself on occasion. He's a psychic after all and time in the relic is like meditation to him." After that, he could give his Kohitsuji a gesture to begin a little test - a Telekinetic Glare at Sakura. The burst of purple light would form a ball and fly quickly out at the Sakura roughtly 20 feet away.

Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 28, 2010 12:08 am

Itsuki smiled again, rather broadly, at Key's rather valid explanation of keeping his Kohitsuji in a relic. He found that given the correct reason he could completely remove the other reasons from his mind and focus only on that one, leaving his morality and general thoughts unfettered. It was quite fun to be Itsuki - at least - that's what Itsuki thought.

"That is a good reason." he smiled nonchalantly before commanding Sakura to move a few steps to the left out of the immediate range at which it could hit her, and Itsuki moved with her to avoid being hit by it too.

"Psychics... This will be annoying, I think - Especially given the nature of psychics, with their telekinesis and all..." Itsuki wondered to himself as he simply commanded Sakura to launch a Giashock at Kohitsuji, from a 45 degree angle to where she was originally, and then to take another step, adding 5 degrees of rotation if Sakura was moving along a circle with Kohitsuji being at the centerpoint, and using Giashock again in 'succession'. Itsuki wanted to see what Kohitsuji would do to dodge before he thought out a more substantial attack.

PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 28, 2010 12:17 am

"Ascend!" Key called quickly, the part ghost sheep rising up just above the first Giashock before firing a response Telekinetic Glare at the Sakura. It would be easily able to avoid the Giashocks by being slightly mobile in the air. The difficulty would be timing an attack properly to land a hit against the Sakura. Both seemed to want to keep their distance, but Key had a general plan to put his opponent in check.

Key knew his lamb would stay mobile, following his hand directions in its peripheral vision, which was now easier with his opponent moving in kind of a circular path.

Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 28, 2010 12:24 am

As Sakura had moved, and was continuing to move along the circular path, the Telekinetic Glare did not matter and completely missed. Itsuki then took a step forwards after another 25 degrees along the path and Sakura rushed forwards, sending two giashocks in quick succession, one aimed slightly higher, but still able to hit the Kohitsuji, and one aimed lower (again, but still able to hit the Kohitsuji) than the Kohitsuji before using a vortex, spinning rapidly in order to make the giashocks quicker so Kohitsuji stood less of a chance of avoidance, and to repel any telekinetic glare(s) that the Kohitsuji may fire (if only as a quick counterbalance) in retaliation. Itsuki was a little concerned for Sakura now (though he had given the commands verbally he was mentally willing her to stay safe) and after she had fired the Giashocks and finished her twister she would move along a new circle and slightly backwards after 5-10 degrees, ready to combat any offence that the Kohitsuji had.

Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 28, 2010 3:11 am

Key's hand gesture told Kohitsuji to go right and follow the movement of the Sakura, the gap between the two closed to approximately 15 feet. Using multiple moves was time lost and the twister had to play catch up, giving their ample time for Kohitsuji to dodge to the right of the combination attack. Once the gap closed more, it might be more of an issue, but as it stood, moving to the right was perfectly acceptable.

From this new position, Key had Kohitsuji fire a Telekinetic Glare at the Sakura at the tail end of its combination attack, aiming to catch the Sakura off guard with a blow. It wasn't difficult to stop, especially with the trainer able to use spells still. But it was another step in figuring out an alternative strategy if his first strategy failed.

PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 28, 2010 2:47 pm

Itsuki played into Key's move, unable to think of another way to avoid it, and used a Feeble Wall to block the Telekinetic Glare from actually hitting Sakura. That combination attack had indeed been too slow and Itsuki was wondering how he could get past the sheep's defenses. It could levitate, which meant that Ituski would have a largely difficult time in hitting it unless it was from an Angle neither Key nor Kohitsuji could see, which would be very difficult considering.

"Sakura, close the gap and try to remain underneath Kohitsuji as best as is possible, and fire off two Giashocks as you run, slightly to the left and to the right. Itsuki marked the positions of the Giashocks with hand movements, one to the upper-left but still able to hit Kohitsuji, and one to the lower-right of Kohitsuji (again still able to hit, however lightly) - She was still running as she was firing these, though, and would thusly be able to dodge Kohitsuji's retaliation (she hoped).

PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeFri Oct 29, 2010 4:46 pm

"Kohitsuji, dodge into the right blast," Key yelled, throwing up a Feeble Wall. While Kohitsuji could drift decently fast, the Sakura gap closing was something that he needed to deal with. He fired a single Telekinetic Glare at the Sakura, Kohitsuji's eyes flashing brightly with it. Ultimately though, the Kohitsuji never left its general position in the air.

Key was curious as to what his opponent was planning on doing at close range against the Kohitsuji.

Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeFri Oct 29, 2010 5:48 pm

Sakura was moving quite quickly underneath the Kohitsuji, and it had aimed at a stationary point therefore the attack had missed due to Sakura not being stood still. Sakura was quite quickly closing the gap, and as she got to a relatively steep angle underneath Kohitsuji she would start firing two Giashocks at a roughly 30 degree angle from the floor, as if horizontal to Kohitsuji was 90 degrees.

As soon as Sakura got under Kohitsuji she would fire three Giashocks directly upwards, one aiming for the 'heart' of the Natrelmon, and two just at the general underbelly of Kohitsuji. The Giashocks fired here would have seeds in them, and Itsuki hoped that Sakura's seeds would land and do... Something. She would only stop for a second, though, to fire the Giashocks - she would continue running after firing in the same line, and wherever Kohitsuji was at that point she would use another steep Giashock at its dead-center, to minimize chances of dodging. Itsuki had to start dodging now, though, and warned for Sakura to be on alert. He had gotten an offense in, as bad as it could be, but recognised that a defence was necessary now. He could keep going like this so long as Sakura could stall for time, as Green Energy would regenerate his Giashocks.

OOC: Added in seeding.

Key quickly used his Feeble Walls, shielding from two of the shocks while the Kohitsuji move forward. It then went Invisible at Key's command, disappearing quickly as the third Giashock from the lower angle was launched. The sheep could then reposition itself basically anywhere. This was the key to this strategy - positioning.

Sakura, having turned around as she was firing, saw the Kohitsuji vanish before her eyes. She was very confused at the Kohitsuji's sudden disappearance, and Itsuki ordered her to fire one Giashock at where the Kohitsuji's head would have been to ensure it hadn't just moved a little bit, and another at where its feet would have been.

Itsuki hoped the Kohitsuji hadn't moved far, but it was very likely both attacks would completely miss... So Itsuki ordered Sakura to run back towards him so he could better defend her.

Key snapped is fingers to initiate his plan with Kohitsuji. The moment it had gone intangible, it had dropped to the ground, letting its drifting ability cease so it was on the ground very rapidly, avoiding both attacks. It also used the time Sakura used to turn around to move forward very close behind the fleeing Sakura - actually only inches away from the Natrelmon. With the snap, the Kohitsuji fired a series of very rapid Ghostly Lights, using 7 of them in as rapid of succession as possible, varying a few slightly around the Sakura to make movements to the sides and upwards dangerous. In such a tight formation, there was no diagonal path without taking a blow.

Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki   Tournament Battle #2 - Key vs Itsuki I_icon_minitimeFri Oct 29, 2010 7:47 pm

As Itsuki was intently watching his Sakura, he noticed the first Ghostly light fired from what seemed to be thin air and had his Sakura turn around immediately and stop moving, only to use a feeble wall to save her from being hit directly by the orb aimed directly at her - the other orbs were still there.

Upon Itsuki's verbal command of "Vortex!", Sakura begun spinning a vortex to hopefully aim the Ghostly Lights, as they were projectiles, back at Kohitsuji. It was plausible that she would be hit by an astray ghostly light her twister couldn't catch, but Itsuki was gazing intently and had his third, and final, feeble wall at the ready to shelter her from any incoming hits that the twister might not redirect. There was the offchance it would not redirect anything... As a retaliation, even if Sakura would suffer some damage from the ghostly lights she would fire a few last Giashocks at the extremely close Kohitsuji which she could almost guarantee the position of - These Giashocks would be accelerated by the twister and would most likely hit the Kohitsuji directly in the head or neck.

Itsuki was watching very intently to see if his last Feeble Wall needed to be used to protect his precious Sakura, but this did seem to be the make-or-break of the battle.

OOC: Changed Twister to Vortex, got moves mixed up. ^^;;
