PostSubject: A Very Brief Search   Thu Apr 29, 2010 10:55 pm

Isaac yawned hugely, hand waving in front of his mouth theatrically. It was a good yawn. It had resonance, and carried quite a ways. His eyes watered slightly, his chest rose, and his face contorted to a sort of forced frown. After a moment he finally finished, shaking his head as if trying to shake away the weariness. He still wasn't sure why people yawned. Was it the body trying to wake itself up? That was a popular theory. Or was it the body trying to get some more oxygen into the blood stream, or something? Once more Isaac wished he'd payed more attention in his classes.

Bruse looked up at him concernedly, letting out a faint, questioning 'Moo?' The bull yawned enough himself, but never so over-dramatically. He was worried something was the matter with his trainer and friend. Isaac smiled, patting the bovine Natrelmon on the head. Even with his increase in strength, the bull was still really quite naive and youthful in his own way. It was cute. Bruse flicked his tail in the air, stamping a foot, enjoying the gesture. He liked it when trainers petted him. It made him feel loved. In fact, he was so moved he let out a happy 'Moo!' Some habits died hard.

It was a short while before Ashlee would be meeting Isaac on the plains. He looked around, surveying the plains for Natrelmon, trainers, or anything potentially interesting in any way. Sadly, the open expanses of grassland seemed bereft of those things. He sighed, shaking his head, and started out toward a bush a few yards away. Maybe it contained a Natrelmon. Maybe it didn't. There was, however, only one way to find out.

Bruse ran up to it, letting out an overexcited 'Moo!' Whether he wanted to find a Natrelmon or was just trying to race Isaac wasn't clear.

A female Bruse was snacking on grass in the fields of Lifan.

It mooed.

Bruse reached the bush shortly and spotted the other Bruse beyond it. He started for a moment, suddenly unsure of what to do. He had conflicting ideas about what to do with this wild Natrelmon. He settled on an answering 'Moo!' Isaac heard the other Bruse and grinned. So there was a Natrelmon here after all! He already had a Bruse, it was true, but he could find use for another one he was sure.

"Go, Bruse! Use Close Quarters when you get to, um, close quarters!"

Bruse charged toward the other Bruse, obeying the order.

It was love at first sight. "Moo! The female Bruse called. "Moooo, moo, moo!" It attempted to woo the male Bruse with.. moos. A moowoo..

But suddenly, her would-be lover charged at her. "Moomoomoomoo!" It called, running suddenly to the left. But she stopped, and decided to confront the Bruse head on. It charged in a diagonally path to meet the Bruse's body with her own set of small horns within about seven seconds.

Bruse adjusted his course to follow the female Bruse as she moved... but he looked guilty about it. As they neared each other Bruse focused, Close Quarters coming into effect, and applied his fighting innate ability. There was no immediate, obvious effect, but it was there nonetheless. Just before they came together, Bruse ducked his head under the female's horns, crouching slightly in mid-charge, and thrust up with his own horns toward her chest. With the move and innate in effect, this would be quite a damaging blow...

Isaac smiled as he completed the capture, letting himself down into a sitting position. He opened the briefcase, letting up the clasps with an audible snap, and drew out a pencil. He examined the tip for a moment, holding it up to the light, and shook his head. Pulling out a small knife from the depths of the suitcase, he shaved off the edges of the pencil tip, sharpening it. After a moment he examined it again and nodded, satisfied. He stowed the knife back in the suitcase and closed it, pulling it onto his lap to use as a desk. Then, he started to sketch from his memory.

Bruse lay down where the other Bruse had been, letting out mournful, depressed 'Moo's. He hadn't wanted to hurt her... now she was with the group, which was nice, but... he hoped she was alright. He breathed out heavily through his nose, rolling on his side. Love was tragic sometimes. Isaac smiled, finding the Bruse's crush amusing, but sympathizing. Still, in the long run, it meant the two would get to be together, and that was for the best, wasn't it? He wondered what Ashlee was doing right then. He hadn't seen her in a while. Would she like the Grianos?

He shook his head, focusing on the card again as he quickly finished the illustration with a few careful pencil strokes. He smiled, holding it up to the light a moment as he had with the pencil, examining his work. It was good. As expected. He might have to take a closer look at the hoofs later, though. He slipped the card to his pocket and the pencil to the briefcase before rising to his feet, stretching. He looked back at the bush, curious if there was a Natrelmon in it. Bruse had been looking at it first, until he'd spotted the female...

And, in open sight, a relatively common Omutiel was standing in the path, preening under its wings, looking away from the trainer.

Isaac looked over at Auren, but spotted the Omutiel a moment later. He put a finger to his lips, hoping the trainer would pick up on the Natrelmon's presence and take the hint. He whispered to Petal, who obediently began to focus, standing perfectly still. The Omutiel would have no reason to stir...

And it didn't, though its armpit had acquired some interesting rock that was lodged in it, hence its focus on its preening.

Suddenly, without warning, roots burst from the ground around the bird, wrapping around its legs, wings and body, interweaving and growing in a tower-form as the second part of the root collapse took effect. The tower continued to rise, binding the Omutiel to the top, and would do so for quite a while unless stopped...

And thus, the surprised Omutiel panicked, struggled... and continued doing so. I mean, you go about doing your own thing, and then some trainer comes along and decides to use some highly situational move on you. Life sucked today for this bird.

Health: 15%
