PostSubject: Tomiko vs Isaac   Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:33 pm

((Yes I am assuming that she captures Elwis, but it won't be used in this battle.))

After having captured her Elwis, Tomiko had returned to Lifan, from there she went to her hotel and rested, that had been last night. Now she was looking around for a battle, mostly because as of yet her Natrelmon weren't really what she'd call battle-ready. In fact she had yet to test them in true combat. It was for this reason that Tomiko now looked about for another trainer she could challenge to a friendly match. She carried with her Elwis, Centice, Kaigara, and of course Sparwire, all within their relics. The gems glistened on her bracelet, hopefully drawing the eye of any trainers who happened to be looking for a battle.

The temperature was comfortable today, and it was a good time for a battle. Tomiko picked an area right outside the city, with a diverse array of landscapes with water, stone, trees, plant life, and open areas within which to fight.

Isaac sat in a grassy glade, leaning up against the back of a tree. Off far to the right was a stream, and at the center of the clearing was a boulder, but beyond that there was very little to remark on. The grass was six inches high, overgrown outside the city limits. His box was set on his lap, and he was sketching the glade busily on a piece of paper. He'd not been out to this area yet, and it offered a charming variety to the plains and thick forest he'd seen before.

Petal perched on the boulder, dozing. There wasn't really anything else to say. She was a small pink flower, asleep. Photosynthesis.

Tomiko saw the other trainer, sitting under a tree, and keeping to himself, he looked to be drawing something. It also looked like he had a Natrelmon on his shoulder resting. "Hello." Tomiko called out, "Are you up for a match? What level are your Natrelmon?" She asked him as she started to approach. He didn't seem to be all that threatening, so she hoped she would be able to have a friendly match with him. "I have a Kaigara, Centice, Sparwire, and Elwis." She said, offering the species her Natrelmon.

"We should battle a few, within the same level range, but lets not make this too serious." She suggested in a good natured manner. Overall it was likely that her Elwis was quite strong, however the rest of her Natrelmon were under-leveled. On the other hand very rarely did people capture very high level Natrelmon, so it was highly likely that this trainer would have at least one Natrelmon of the correct level.

"We can begin whenever you are ready." She said, after having heard the Natrelmon he'd use, picking one ones of her own that were of a similar strength.

Isaac blinked as the strange trainer went into a monologue, going on about levels and strange Natrelmon species he'd not heard of before... or at least not that he could remember hearing about. He opened his mouth to respond, but then the trainer continued on as if he'd already accepted the challenge. He considered this. Petal could use some work, it was true, if they were going to take on the Toran gym. And Grianos could... well, both Grian... Griani? Grana? Griana? Grianoses? He would never, ever be sure of the plural form. Both giant lizards could use some training...

He nodded toward his Sakura, over on the boulder. "Petal, and..." He pulled a relic from his pocket. "Grianos!" he exclaimed, letting out the level one lizard. The Grianos sidled over to the stream and began to drink. Isaac shrugged, looking over the Natrelmon the girl had summoned...

Tomiko summoned Kaigara, and Centice, it would be interesting to have two one versus one battles going on at the same time. Currently a distance of about four meters separated the two groups, with another three meters for the trainers. So that stray attacks would be less likely to hit anyone. The Kaigara was close to the stream, while the Centice was currently out in the open.

Turning to her Kaigara first, Tomiko directed it to use its innate ability to shoot water at the lizard, the squirt gun aimed high, then dropped, so that Grianos would first be rained on by a wide spread of water, to get its attention just before the attack hit. Tomiko felt bad attacking it when it did not seem to be paying attention. She had decided that the battle versus Sakura would be more difficult, so she watched its movements, and ordered Centice to get closer, while activating the shard ability, firing two ice shards at Sakura.

"Grianos!" Isaac exclaimed. The lizard turned to look at him as the water began to come down from above. "Go get that turtle! Behind you!" The lizard turned around as the squirt gun started to hit her. She hissed and started toward the Kaigara, three-hundred or so pounds of angry lizard bearing down on a small turtle.

Petal stepped to the side, the shards whizzing by harmlessly. "Petal, blades!" Isaac exclaimed, turning on the other battle. Suddenly, the six inch tall grass that the three inch tall centipede was scuttling through were as so many razorblades. This would inevitably lead to significant damage if it continued to move through the grass toward the Sakura, despite its resistance to grass.

Isaac felt a little flushed. He'd been rushed into this battle and it was difficult to keep tabs on two battles at once and give orders. Perhaps he should have done one battle after another...

Kaigara couldn't take on the Grianos direcrtly, but it didn't have to. Kaigara fired squirt gun again, this time aiming for the soft river mud just in front of the lizard. This would do two things, first turm the mud into a sticky mess that nothing heavy would be able to run through with any speed, and second splash Grianos's face with mud making it more difficult to see. With a very relaxed nature Kaigara took a couple steps, it would not be hindered by the mud. The Kaigara remained facing forwards to keep an eye on what Grianos did.

Centice was now a bit over one meter away from Sakura, having closed distance. Being an insect Centice had a hard exoskeleton and therefore was unaffected by the sharpening of the grass. As it progressed it fired two more ice darts slightly to the side of Sakura, and two more directly at sakura, one focusing on its head, the other focusing slightly lower than the center of mass. This time Centice fired the attacks through the grass, so the exact angle, direction, and number would be unclear until the attacks were nearly on top of the Sakura.

"Grianos, slab bridge!" Isaac could only hope the lizard understood what he meant, because his attention then flitted back to his Sakura. "Fall back, Petal, and start to sow!"

The Grianos, fortunately, understood the nature of the command. She manipulated the earth under her feet, turning the mud and earth to stone slabs. Since the water gun was only level one, the mud wouldn't be all too deep, and this would be possible. She shook the mud from her face as she continued her onslaught, hissing, now having one more reason to fight the turtle past being ordered to.

Sakura also followed orders. Dodging to the side or ducking or something of the like would be difficult to pull off, so she didn't bother with it. Falling back meant moving backwards and literally falling off the boulder. The shards shot past overhead to no particular effect. The flower then moved on a retreat from the rock, planting a 'sow' seed with every step.

The Grianos was determined, however Tomiko saw that it was relying on strength over speed. This time Kaigara shot water gun into the ground around itself, aiming in the opposite direction of the bank. the force, and wet ground was enough to slide Kaigara into the water of the stream, an element Kaigara felt far more comfortable in. Kaigara began to swim following the current, in the direction away from Grianos, this required no direction from Tomiko as avoiding a charging lizard was simply common sense. The use of slab had been quick thinking but now the stream provided Kaigara with a bit more comfort, and a bit more speed. It wasn't able to outpace the Grianos, however when its own speed was combined with the flow of water it prevented the Grianos from closing distance quickly, there was still a couple meters between them.

Meanwhile Centice saw the Sakura jump off of the boulder, and proceeded around moving parallel to Sakura but staying low to the ground which allowed it to gather speed. It had cleared the grass now, and Tomiko was off at an angle so that she herself would be able to see the battle going on. She directed Centice to spit poison at the Sakura, spraying the liquid from its jaws. The spray would hopefully hit the Sakura directly, and though not entirely accurate it would splatter a large area in at least some amount of the poison. Centice was about a half meter away from Sakura, currently moving on a parallel course, thereby avoiding the seeds.

"Slab!"

The Grianos halted in her charge, not amused. Her foe was running away, the coward that it was. The lizard formed the slab on her tail and flung it toward the turtle before backing away from the stream, moving out of range of the turtle's attacks in just a moment. She wasn't going to play that Natrelmon's game and fight it in the water. She could wait for it to work up the courage to come fight, or keep running and forfeit.

"Petal, back and wind!" Isaac shouted, resorting to the simplest commands to save time. The Sakura did so, suddenly reversing direction and ceasing planting the seeds. The poison splattered out ahead of the flower and to the side, causing the grass to slowly turn a sickly yellow color. As she darted back, however, she began flapping her petals, forming a whirlwind directed at the centipede which was, at that time, facing away from the flower since it would take a moment to turn about to the Sakura's new position, the time it would take to react, and so on. The whirlwind would, if successful, pull the centipede backward, causing it to flip over and generally be buffeted about by wind damage.

Meanwhile, the seeds planted by sow were taking root, the fastest of them beginning to supply Sakura with healing energy...

((Just to explain the logic of my post:

1) In my post I never state Centice spits poison.
2) Centice CANNOT physically spit poison at Sakura (to the side) without stopping.
3) Centice stopped before Sakura, as Isaac ordered Sakura to stop at the same time Centice attacked, therefore Sakura would take action after Centice.
4) Sakura is in front of Centice. ))

Kaigara was not impressed with the large lizard, it had already scored one direct hit with its water gun, and now as the Grianos launched the slab, Kaigara used its aquatic nature to avoid the stone, which landed with a large splash. From there Kaigara fired two more squirt guns at Grianos, the first aimed just to the left of the lizard's back left leg, while the second aimed at Grianos's large broad side, the easiest target.

The Centice had stopped quickly, utilizing its many legs, so that even as Isaac gave his command to the Sakura, the poison spewed forth from Centice's jaws. Instead of dodging like he had expected though, he had instead directed Sakura into the path of the spray coming from Centice. This mistake came from the fact that he had ordered Sakura to counter before Centice had begun to spit the poison, given that the two of them were very close Sakura had begun to move backwards, and start the whirlwind technique even as Centice spit poison towards it. This would mean that not only was Sakura squarely in the line of fire, but its own whirlwind was drawing all of Centices poison directly towards Sakura. Sakura's whirlwind, and positioning would mean that it was moving into the poison and drawing the poison to it.

Further, because centice was very low to the ground, and reasonably heavy, it was unlikely that the wind would have an immediate effect on it. Centice further resisted the wind be hunching down slightly towards the ground, allowing the start of the whirlwind to flow over it as it would a rock. It also curved its body slightly making for a more aerodynamic position.

Petal continued to back up, keeping up the whirlwind, working through the stinging pain of the poison. It was lessened somewhat by the healing energy coming from the 'Sow' seeds. There was only so much poison, and it was gone soon enough. Meanwhile, the Centice was still being affected by whirlwind. Since it was weak to wind, despite stopping its movement, the insect would still be taking significant damage. Not that it could stop its movement for long.

Grianos hadn't taken a direct hit from the water attack, rather two indirect ones, one of which was an earth/water attack since it was in the form of mud. The power of the first pure water one had been lessened since the turtle aimed high, letting the droplets rain down on it. In short, she had taken some damage, but not quite the force of one good blast yet. It wasn't relevant at this point, but it could become so later on.

Since they were bursts of water instead of a stream, the turtle was a low level and so had a weaker water innate, and Grianos was apparently barely in range since the turtle hadn't moved closer, the attacks were easy to avoid. Grianos kicked up a slab, along with a bunch of that mud created earlier. The slab and mud blocked the water as Grianos finally got the rest of the way out of range of the stream. The Kaigara would have to give up its advantage and come away from the water to try and get back in range.

Isaac focused on his feeble walls, paying more attention to Petal now, since she seemed to be in the most trouble...

Tomiko knew that the wind would not be highly damaging anymore, due to the poison and the fact that Sakura was bleeding off some of the suction by moving backwards. She directed Centice to attack again, forcing it to break its defensive posture. Centice created two more ice shards, this time they were launched into the whirlwind so that they would spin towards Sakura with more speed and force than normal. One of the shards would hit about a quarter second before the other, both would be aimed to strike into the center of Sakura's body, though they might not strike edge first due to the buffeting winds. Sakura would have far less time than normal to dodge due to whirlwind, and the small shards would have perfect accuracy due to the vortex.

Tomiko didn't have any intention of giving Grianos an advantage, so she had Kaigara crawl onto the far bank opposite of Grianos. The lizard had an advantage in terms of physical size, however at a distance they were equal at worst, currently Kaigara was just out of Grianos's range, therefore staying at the waters edge it started moving closer.

Grianos moved back at an equal speed, watching the turtle carefully, until she would be out of range of water innate attacks even if the Kaigara was directly across the stream. The turtle would have to cross the stream to the lizard's side to even have a chance to launch attacks.

"Stop, charge!" Isaac shouted, hoping Petal would understand. Fortunately she did and stopped the whirlwind. The shards were launched toward the same target from the same spot at high speeds. This made blocking them easier. The first shard hit a feeble wall, shattering it but stopping in motion. The second shard then hit the first shard, both of them falling to the ground toward the Sakura and falling short now.

As the first shard hit the wall, the flower started to run toward the Centice. With two of three attacks now ineffective, that left one. With each step she planted a further 'sow' seed, acting on instinct there.

Tomiko saw that Grianos could no longer threaten Kaigara, and had to laugh. She didn't tell Kaigara to do anything once it was directly opposite of Grianos, on that battle she was happy to wait and let things progress slowly, while focusing on the battle between Centice and Sakura. At this distance Grianos wouldn't be able to launch an attack on Kaigara any more than it could launch an attack on Grianos, if neither side was willing to fight then it would stalemate for an eternity. This was quite simple really, as it allowed Tomiko to dedicate most of her focus to the other battle, she would focus on this one more when she had finished the other.

The flaw with Isaac's defense plan for Petal, was the fact that Cencice had delayed the firing of its second shard. Due to the speed this left enough time for the second shard to clear the first shard, and remains of the feeble wall. This allowed the shard to strike Sakura dead center. The fact that Sakura had started to move forwards made the hit all more impressive. Tomiko again issued orders to Centice, directing it to go in for a final attack now that Sakura had taken a direct hit from an attack it would be off balance. Centice started to advance as it sprayed poison into the air in a wide arc as the Centice curved its head, the poison covered a wide enough area that some would splash down on Sakura from above. it followed this with four more ice shards, launched within two waves, the first two aimed with one slightly to the left of Sakura, one slightly to the right. The second aimed a mere heartbeat after, two shards aligned vertically, one launched at Sakura's head with the other at the center of its mass. This onslaught was of course intended to finish Sakura quickly.

After further review of this battle, it has been decided that the above experience is invalid, as is this entire battle.
